LumaBooth recently released a helpful tutorial walking through how to offer multiple templates to your guests in both the Windows and iPad/iOS versions of the software. If you’ve been confused about the changes to how templates work — especially after the star system was removed from Windows — this video is a great watch.
What Changed in the Windows Version
The biggest update covered in the video is the removal of the star system in LumaBooth for Windows. Previously, you could star specific templates to make them available to guests. That option is now gone. The new rule is simple: any template loaded into the software will be available to your guests.
How to Add Multiple Templates on Windows
Here’s the step-by-step process for the Windows version (watch at 0:51):
- Open your event and navigate to Photo Layout — this is where all your templates live.
- You’ll see a dropdown with your currently loaded template(s). This dropdown shows you exactly what’s active for the event.
- To add another template, click the Add Layout button (or use the menu option — both work the same way).
- A panel will appear with two options: Presets and Recent Layouts. Your Recent Layouts shows all previously used templates on that device — this is how you access your old templates now that the star system is gone.
- Select a template from Recent Layouts or Presets. It will immediately be added to the event.
- You’ll now see two (or more) templates in the dropdown. When you launch the session, guests will be offered a choice between them.
Offering Different Print Sizes (e.g. 4×6 and 2×6)
If you want to offer both a 4×6 and a 2×6 to guests, just add both layouts using the steps above (watch at 3:18). One important note: if you’re going to be printing both sizes, you need to assign one of them to a secondary printer.
- In the Photo Layout section, look for the “Print to Secondary Printer” option on the left side of the template row.
- Enable that for whichever size should go to your second printer (e.g. your 4×6 if you have one 4×6 and two 2×6 strips).
- Check out LumaBooth’s separate video on print setup for full details on configuring your secondary printer.
How to Delete a Template (Windows)
If you want to remove a template from an event (watch at 7:00):
- Go to Photo Layout.
- Select the template you want to remove from the dropdown.
- Click Delete Template.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Adding Multiple Templates on iPad / iOS
The process on the iPad version of LumaBooth is just as straightforward (watch at 4:44):
- Open your event and go to Photo Layout.
- Tap the Layouts button in the bottom-right corner to see all templates currently loaded on the device.
- From there you can Add a Layout or Delete a Layout.
- Tap Add Layout and choose from Recent or Presets — same as Windows.
- Once added, the layout name in the dropdown will update. You can switch between layouts using the dropdown at the top of the Photo Layout screen.
- To delete, select the layout you want to remove and tap Delete.
Managing Templates from the Dashboard
You can also add and manage templates directly from the LumaBooth Dashboard (watch at 7:32). From the dashboard, you can upload your own templates or browse the template library. Any templates added through the dashboard will be available in both the Windows and iOS software.
Quick Summary
- The star system is gone from Windows — all loaded templates are now automatically available to guests.
- Use Recent Layouts to quickly reload templates you’ve used before.
- Adding multiple templates works the same way on Windows and iPad/iOS.
- If printing multiple sizes, set one layout to go to a secondary printer.
